AKC Reunite Integration
Register microchips without leaving Pet Friend
A microchip is only useful if it's registered. Pet Friend integrates with AKC Reunite, one of the largest microchip recovery services, so registration happens as part of your normal intake and adoption workflow — not as a separate task someone has to remember.
How it works
- Register at intake or adoption. Record the chip number on the animal's record and register it with AKC Reunite without re-keying data into another portal.
- Tied to the animal record. The chip lives with the rest of the animal's history — medical, adoption, and owner details — in one place.
- Faster returns to owner. A registered chip is the quickest path to reuniting a lost pet with its family, which is also a live outcome that frees up a kennel.
Why it matters
Unregistered chips are a common, costly gap — the animal is chipped but unfindable in any database. Building registration into the workflow closes that gap for every animal, improves your return-to-owner rate, and protects the families who adopt from you. Microchip scanning and registration are core to a clean intake process.
